About Sculptured Rocks Natural Area
Two hundred and seventy-two acres where the Cockermouth River has sliced a narrow canyon into bedrock above Newfound Lake. Sand carried in the current has ground the walls into curves and drilled potholes down into the bedrock, work that began as the last ice age ended.
