Schodack Island State Park is open. Due to area road closures, access is limited and visitors can only reach the park from the Village of Castleton. Route 9J is closed south of the park entrance. Muitzeskill Road is closed west of Van Hoesen Road (across from the park entrance). Visitors should take Route 9J south from Rensselaer or Route 150 to Route 9J south to reach the park. Local traffic (including those accessing Schodack Island State Park) is permitted past the closure barriers in the Village of Castleton at the intersection of Route 150/Scott Ave and Route 9J. Please drive slowly and use caution in work zones.
1,052 acres off the eastern shore of the Hudson just south of Albany, bounded by seven miles of river and Schodack Creek shoreline. Designated a State Estuary, with a Bird Conservation Area sheltering bald eagles and cerulean warblers.
