ATTENTION AGATE PICKERS The Carlton County agate picking pit permits are now facilitated by the Moose Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Note: Moose Lake State Park does NOT have a dump station. Updated August 24, 2026
Rolling hills, ponds and two fishing lakes, with a pier to work from and bass and northern in quiet Echo Lake. The Agate and Geological Center explains the rock underfoot, and the 60-mile Willard Munger Trail passes two miles west.

$7 per vehicle — One-day vehicle permit $7; year-round permit $35 ($26 for an additional vehicle, $30 motorcycle, $12 with a disability permit). Free year-round permits for disabled veterans, active-duty military and members of Minnesota’s 11 federally recognized tribes.
