As of early August, we have finished mowing all the trails we can drive a mower through on the north side of the park and trails south of the St. Louis River, except upper Spruce and Summer Trails. Spruce and Summer Trails will not be mowed anytime soon due to trail washouts and erosion blocking mower access.

Campfires
There are currently no campfire restrictions in effect, but please use common sense while having a campfire: monitor when it's lit and extinguish when leaving the campfire area.
Air Quality
Please keep an eye on air quality if you are visiting the park and make decisions to keep yourself safe. Remember that if you need emergency assistance while on a trail you may also be putting staff and emergency personnel at risk during this bad air quality time. You can find fire restrictions at a link from the mndnr.com website. The MPCA website has air quality alerts or use their airnow app which has real time information. The airnow app can be downloaded for free from your app store.
Ogantz Trail
Ogantz Trail at Oldenburg Point past the main overlook 1/3 mile from the Oldenburg Point parking lot is closed until winter 2026-2027.
Seasonal Campground Water On
The Campground shower and bathroom building, outside water faucets and dump station are on for the season. Outhouses are also available in the campground.
No Swimming Allowed in Jay Cooke State Park
Swimming and cliff/bridge jumping are not allowed in any part of Jay Cooke State Park due to the potential for dangerous currents.
Reminders
The park does not have vending machines. Remember to bring a refillable bottle for water. Drinking water is available throughout the visitor area and campground. Some snacks are sold inside our gift store, but no beverages.
