The Rock Island Ferry from Washington Island to the state park is open for the season. The ferry runs from Memorial Day weekend through the second Monday in October. For ferry times, rates and more information. Reason: weather conditions.
Two ferries out, and no vehicle of any kind is allowed once you land — the season runs from late May to mid-October. The Pottawatomie light stands above 40 walk-in tent sites, along with stone buildings put up by an inventor who held the island for half a century.
