Posted Sep 8, 2026 - The following conditions are in place for Prineville Reservoir: Prineville main camp is open The boat ramps at Prineville Reservoir Day-use Area are closed to motorized launching.

Non-motorized launching is still allowed. Jasper Day Use boat ramp is closed for the season due to low water. Powder house ramp closed, but day use parking lot is still open. The unimproved Roberts Bay and County boat ramps are open. Fires are not allowed. Fish cleaning station is open for the summer season North road is open, fires are not allowed Bear Creek Closed as of 8/31/26 for the season. Moorage is closed for the season due to low water levels. Jasper campground open for the season Floating restrooms have been pulled out of the water for the season. The reservoir level is at 28 % as of September 2, 2026.

Posted Mar 24, 2023 - Emerald Ash Borer, a highly invasive insect, has been sighted in Oregon for the first time. Help contain this extremely damaging insect by following these firewood tips: Buy locally harvested firewood at or near your destination. Buy certified heat-treated firewood ahead of time, if available.

Prineville Reservoir State Park entrance fee

$10–$12 per vehicle — Day-use parking permit: $10 per day for Oregon residents, $12 non-resident; $60 for a 12-month permit ($75 non-resident). No permit needed if you walk, bike or are dropped off, or if you are camping in the park.

About Prineville Reservoir State Park

A high desert park on a 15-mile reservoir formed where the Crooked River meets Bowman Dam, with drive-in and boat-in primitive sites along 43 miles of shoreline. It is a certified International Dark Sky Park, recognised for its night skies and its low-pollution lighting.
