About Champoeg State Heritage Area

The site where settlers voted to form Oregon's first provisional government in 1843, and of a town of 200 washed away by the flood of 1861. Paved trails hug the Willamette past historical landmarks, and more than 130 bird species use the forests, fields and wetlands.

$10–$12 per vehicle — Day-use parking permit: $10 per day for Oregon residents, $12 non-resident; $60 for a 12-month permit ($75 non-resident). No permit needed if you walk, bike or are dropped off, or if you are camping in the park.
