About White Island Historical Site

New Hampshire's only offshore lighthouse, on an island in the Isles of Shoals where a stone-and-shingle tower first stood in 1820. The government rebuilt it in brick and stone in 1859, eighty-five feet above high water; the island passed to the state park system in 1993.
