About Taylor Mill Historic Site
An up-and-down sawmill two centuries old, standing in 71 acres of Derry state forest and kept running jointly by the parks and forestry divisions. Robert Taylor bought the land in 1799 and had a mill of this kind cutting by about 1805; the works now on site were tracked down in Sandown and rebuilt after 1939.
