Oregon State Park
One of the nation's largest public campgrounds, on the site of a fort that guarded the mouth of the Columbia for 84 years, from the Civil War to the Second World War. Coffenbury Lake, 15 miles of multi-use trails, a disc golf course and a historic shipwreck fill 4,300 acres.
$10–$12 per vehicle — Day-use parking permit: $10 per day for Oregon residents, $12 non-resident; $60 for a 12-month permit ($75 non-resident). No permit needed if you walk, bike or are dropped off, or if you are camping in the park.
