On September 15th and 16th, the main park road bridge over the Baptism River will be closed for work. All traffic going to the campgrounds or trailhead parking lot beyond the Visitor Center will be rerouted back onto Hwy 61, south to our gravel maintenance road, and back over to the park road. Follow the signs posted.

Trail Conditions The bottom of the steps have washed out at the base of the High Falls and Two Step Falls viewing steps. Please use caution in these areas. The Cascade Trail was damaged after 2024 flooding caused several landslides. The trail is impassable and closed beyond the first half mile. The Cascade Falls of the Baptism River are no longer accessible. Please follow park signage. Updated August 26, 2026
Shovel Point, the 60-foot High Falls of the Baptism, six inland lakes you can only walk to, and a mile of Lake Superior shore. Climb the cliffs, ski the Palisade Valley, and spend the night at the old Tettegouche Camp.
$7 per vehicle — One-day vehicle permit $7; year-round permit $35 ($26 for an additional vehicle, $30 motorcycle, $12 with a disability permit). Free year-round permits for disabled veterans, active-duty military and members of Minnesota’s 11 federally recognized tribes.
