Park vehicle permits are required and can be purchased online, at the park or before you arrive.

Special Hunt 2026 Information
All special hunt permits must be obtained online. No permits will be handed out over the counter going forward.

Day Use Picnic Area
The picnic area that was located in the day use parking lot has been combined with the picnic area across the bridge towards the Devil's Kettle Trail.

Shower Building
Water is on throughout the park, including the shower building.

Superior Hiking Trail update
The Superior Hiking Trail through the park remains open, although the riverside section north of the Devil's Kettle has high water conditions and some flood damage. Day hikes to this area are not recommended.

About Judge C.R. Magney State Park

Half the Brule drops 50 feet into a pool at Devil's Kettle; the other half vanishes down a pothole in the rock. The walk up from the campground is why people come, and the river gives brook and rainbow trout.

Entrance fee

$7 per vehicle — One-day vehicle permit $7; year-round permit $35 ($26 for an additional vehicle, $30 motorcycle, $12 with a disability permit). Free year-round permits for disabled veterans, active-duty military and members of Minnesota’s 11 federally recognized tribes.
