Two north to south road segments at Sauk Prairie State Recreation Area (from markers 9S to 6S and from 8S to 7S) will be under construction Aug. 3 to Sept. 23, 2026 to address erosion. Please use caution and keep out of any work areas. Reason: maintenance.
During World War II no munitions plant on earth was bigger, and it kept working through Korea and Vietnam. The land was declared surplus and passed on for recreation, conservation and research; it opens at six in the morning and shuts at eleven.

$13 per vehicle — A vehicle admission sticker is required. Daily vehicle admission $13 with Wisconsin plates ($16 out-of-state), $3 for Wisconsin residents 65 and older; 12-month pass $28 / $50. Rates effective Aug. 19, 2025.
