A block of nearly unbroken hardwood forest straddling Peters Mountain, given to the state by the forester it is named for. Forest warblers and other deep-woods species shelter here, and an elaborate trail system connects to the Appalachian Trail.
The park is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset. Day use areas close at dusk.
