About Sumpter Valley Dredge State Heritage Area

A gold dredge, essentially a ship on dry land, that ran around the clock from 1935 to 1954 and turned up an estimated $4 million in gold. Visitors can board it May through October, and about 1.5 miles of trails cross the wetlands it left behind.
