About Clay Myers State Natural Area at Whalen Island

A virtually untouched coastal estuarine ecosystem bounded by the Sand Creek estuary — mixed woodland, grassland, fresh and saltwater wetland and a rare native dune sedgeland. It joined the park system in 2000, the first major addition paid for from the lottery-backed Parks and Natural Resource Fund.
