About Banks-Vernonia State Trail

Oregon's first rails-to-trails park, 21 miles along an abandoned railroad bed between Banks and Vernonia. A paved eight-foot path runs beside a gravel horse trail, over 13 bridges including the 733-foot, 80-foot-high Buxton Trestle.

Entrance fee

$10–$12 per vehicle — Day-use parking permit: $10 per day for Oregon residents, $12 non-resident; $60 for a 12-month permit ($75 non-resident). No permit needed if you walk, bike or are dropped off, or if you are camping in the park.
