One of two developed areas along the 16 miles of Taconic State Park that border Massachusetts and Connecticut. An extensive campground sits below a trail system ranging from easy walking to a hard climb.

Know Before You Go Pet Policy A maximum of two pets are allowed in campsites and day use areas unless prohibited by sign or directive. Pets are to be supervised at all times and must be crated or on a leash not more than 6-feet in length. Proof of rabies inoculation shall be produced if requested by staff. Pets are not permitted in playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, pools and spray-grounds or guarded swim areas/beaches (this does not apply to service animals). Swimming Swimming areas at Taconic State Park Copake Falls are lifeguarded. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Ore Pit Swimming area goes from 8ft-40ft deep. A swim test is required for children 12 and under to swim in the Ore Pit. An adult must accompany children 10 and under in the water who have passed the swim test. Flotation devices, including life jackets, are not permitted in the Ore Pit. In addition to the Ore Pit, there is a wading pool area suited for non-swimmers and small children. Swimming:
Swimming season dates are subject to change based on lifeguard availability.
Weekend swimming begins the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Swimming days expand at the end of June and continue through Labor Day. Swimming hours are between 11am-7pm.
Copake Falls Day Use Area is great for picnicking year-round. Areas include picnic tables and grills.
