Named for the foaming cascade Buttermilk Creek makes dropping toward Cayuga Lake. Trails climb the gorge and rim to a small upper lake, while the lower park holds a campground, natural pool and the Larch Meadows wetland.
$10 per vehicle — Vehicle Entry Fee Collection: Cars: $10 Bus Fee: $35 Seasonal Bus Permits: $75 (arrange directly with Park Office in advance) Collected Daily: April 1 - November 30 - 6am to 6:30pm

2026 Swimming Season
Beginning July 3, swimming will be open 11am -7pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and select weekdays when Lifeguard Staffing Permits. Swimming at Buttermilk will likely be closed by mid-August.

2026 Camping Season
Shelters are available 10 am to 9 pm each day, from May 22 – October 29. 14 day advanced reservations are required.
All trails at Buttermilk Falls are open.
