About Weeks State Park & The John Wingate Weeks Historic Site
John Wingate Weeks — congressman, senator, Secretary of War — built his Mount Prospect estate here, and his children handed the 438 acres to the state in 1941. The summit turns through a full circle of mountains, from the Presidentials and the Percy Peaks round to Vermont's Green Mountains; the 1.6-mile auto road was among New Hampshire's first scenic byways, built in 1911.
