Special Deer Hunts
Three deer hunts will be held in the park over the next few months.
October 16-18 Youth Hunt and Adult Learn to Hunt
November 7-10 Firearms Hunt
December 4-6 Muzzleloader Hunt
The park and trails are open during the hunts. Visitors are encouraged to wear blaze orange or pink clothing when visiting the trails. The ranger station will have blaze orange vests and hats available for visitors to borrow during office hours.

Trail Updates
The storm that passed through Bemidji on June 21, 2025, affected every acre of the park. Some areas experienced only minor branch loss, while others saw entire sections of forest flattened. Since the storm, MNDNR staff have worked tirelessly to clear the trails. Although most trails are now open, some sections are more complex and require specialized equipment and careful planning. The goal is to reopen all trails as quickly and safely as possible for your use.
The trails that are closed are:
Rocky Point Trail from intersection N to Birchmont Beach Road
Fish Hawk Trails
Lakeside Trail

About Lake Bemidji State Park

Quarter of a mile of boardwalk crosses a tamarack bog where showy lady's slippers, pitcher plants and sundews grow — late spring is the time. Swimming, boating and fishing on the lake, eagles and osprey above it, naturalists year-round.

Entrance fee

$7 per vehicle — One-day vehicle permit $7; year-round permit $35 ($26 for an additional vehicle, $30 motorcycle, $12 with a disability permit). Free year-round permits for disabled veterans, active-duty military and members of Minnesota’s 11 federally recognized tribes.
