About Big Stone Island Nature Area
Paddle over from the Rearing Ponds Access Area to this 100-acre island, which has no trails or facilities, just songbirds, waterfowl and shorebirds. An 1823 expedition found a village here, and military pilots practiced on a short island runway in the 1940s.
