About Roger W. Wheeler State Beach
Fine white sand behind a breakwater, with calm water and barely any drop-off — the beach Rhode Islanders bring small children to. Locals still call it Sand Hill Cove; it was renamed in 1970 for the captain who built the state's life-saving system.
