A desert oasis of cottonwood and black locust on the shore of Lake Wallula, ringed by sagebrush hills and basalt outcrops. Hat Rock was the first landmark the Lewis and Clark expedition noted coming down the Columbia, and one of the few still above water.

$10–$12 per vehicle — Day-use parking permit: $10 per day for Oregon residents, $12 non-resident; $60 for a 12-month permit ($75 non-resident). No permit needed if you walk, bike or are dropped off, or if you are camping in the park.
