About Sandy Island Beach State Park

Part of the Eastern Lake Ontario Dune and Wetland System, a 17-mile stretch of the only significant freshwater dunes of their kind. The dunes were built by wind and wave off a giant inland sea that preceded the lake.

2026 Beach/Swimming Season:

6/13-9/7/2026 daily from 11am-7pm for swimming

6/14-9/7/2026 for shelter reservations
