About Barcelona Lighthouse

Finished in 1829, this 40-foot tower on Portland Harbor was the first lighthouse in the world lit by natural gas. It is still lit today, though no longer for navigation, and is listed on the U.S. National Register.

2026 Staffed Hours

May 23 (Memorial Day Weekend) through October 12 (Columbus Day): 10:00 am - 5:00 pm daily

October 17 - December 20: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturdays & Sundays only; Tower availability will be weather and construction dependent.
