Posted Jun 2, 2025 - Stage II Fire Restrictions: Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove is prohibited. The use of devices fueled solely by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off is allowed. Such devices can only be used in an area that is barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within three (3) feet of the device. Smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building.

Cottonwoods, shifting sand dunes, and a small fishing lake on the eastern plains. Fishing is the main draw, but the shady campground and steady bird traffic are reason enough.

$5 per vehicle — Day use $5 NM resident (no charge Oct 1 - Apr 30), $10 non-resident; walk-in and bicycle free. Camping per night: primitive $10 resident / $15 non-resident, developed $15 resident / $20 non-resident. Hookups add $5 water, $10 electric, $5 sewer per day.
