Visitors to Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala state recreation areas should use caution as staff is cleaning up following a storm that passed through the night of June 30. Both parks remain open as staff remove downed tree limbs and other storm debris from campgrounds, beaches, roadways and other public use areas. Read our news release for more information.
The little lake on the east side of Kingsley Dam, sheltered from the wind that makes its huge neighbour hard work, and chilled by water drawn from the depths. Bald eagles gather here in winter; a two-mile hike-bike trail runs the dike.
