About Merkle Natural Resources Management Area

Canada geese winter here in greater numbers than anywhere else on the bay's western shore, across 1,900 acres above the Patuxent. A driving tour, the Mounds and Poplar Springs trails and a visitor center by appointment make it a birder's park.
