About Mushroom Rock State Park

Five acres beside the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway, holding Dakota rock concretions weathered into mushroom shapes -- the biggest measuring 27 feet across. Native Americans used them as landmarks, as did John C. Fremont and Kit Carson.
