About Hovey Lake Fish & Wildlife Area

A 1,400-acre oxbow lake, sloughs and bottomland hardwood in the Ohio and Wabash floodplains at Indiana's south-western tip. Treaties in 1803 and 1809 handed the swampland to the state; the DNR bought its first parcel in 1939.
