About Mattatuck State Forest
4,510 acres in twenty parcels from Waterbury to Litchfield, grown from a 723-acre gift in 1926. Hikers aim for Whiterock, Greystone and the 36-mile Mattatuck Trail; one of the Leatherman's cave shelters is here too.
